First information for 29th International Polar Conference (16. – 20. September 2024)

29. International Polar Conference – Rauris, 16. - 20. September 2024

The conference will take place from September 16th to 20th, 2024 in Rauris (Austria). It is organized jointly by the German Society for Polar Research e.V. and the Austrian Polar Research Institute (APRI). The community of Rauris is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park below the Sonnenblick group. The Sonnenblick Observatory is located on the “Hoher Sonnenblick”. The conference location will be the Mesnerhaus Rauris, which was reopened as a house for culture and literature in 2020 after thorough renovation.

In addition to the scientific presentations, the conference program will include other elements, including:
– a workshop organized by the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) Germany;
– a public evening lecture to which the interested public and all participants are equally invited;
– an excursion program with exciting content and destinations in the Salzburger Land and the Hohe Tauern with the Großglockner as the highest mountain in Austria (3798 m).

The report colloquium of the SPP Antarctic Research will again be part of the polar conference.
