It is now possible to submit project applications for work on and with the German-French Arctic research base AWIPEV on Svalbard. Multi-year or long-term projects also need to submit an application if access to the station is planned for 2023. Please use the template for the application, which must be completed in English. The projects are assessed for their feasibility and scientific quality. Some key points for applying for the coming year:
- Submission deadline for project applications by email to AWIPEV_Antraegeawipeveu<mailto:AWIPEV_Antraegeawipeveu> by September 30, 2022.
- You will receive a confirmation of receipt (please let us know if you don't)
- The application round covers the period from April 2023 to March 2024.
- Long-term projects with a KOL number will not be subjected to any scientific assessment this year, so under item 2 [Detailed project description] they only need to complete sub-items 2.1, 2.4 and 2.6.
- Dutch projects to be supported at AWIPEV, please also provide information according to the template.
Field work and other activities in and around Ny-Ålesund sometimes require permits from the Norwegian authorities, see https://www.sysselmesteren.no/en/researchers/guidelines-for-researchers-in-svalbard For information on applying for relevant permits (e.g. use of radio spectrum, field installations, etc.) and other useful information, see the Researcher's Guide on the website https://nyalesundresearch.no/.
