Logistics and Infrastructure
Successful research in Antarctica requires functioning logistics. This begins with the journey by ship or plane, continues with the stay in research stations or the tent camp and finally also includes the transport and use of the measuring instruments.
University research groups in particular depend on the logistics of the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven, the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) in Hannover and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). To ensure that the desired provision of the logistics of the AWI, the BGR and the DLR can be implemented for university research, all participants must coordinate their expeditions and research trips in advance. The following information is intended to support this communication.
