Information about the Coordination Workshop

The DFG Priority Programme "Antarctic Research" organises a coordination workshop every year. This is aimed at scientists and research groups of German universities and research institutions and takes place about one month before the annual application deadline (around November 1st). In order to include the foreign participants we ask you to give your presentations in English.

The coordination workshop is mandatory for applicants

(a) who want to apply for a new project in the SPP Antarctic Research,

(b) who wish to apply for renewal, and

(c) who are currently funded under the priority programme.

Note to a,b: New applicants and those applying for an extension are requested to present their project at the coordination workshop in a 5-minute presentation. The structure of the presentations can be freely designed, but should be limited to the essentials (e.g. background, hypothesis/objective, approach, duration and personnel/cost overview).

Note to c: Applicants with a currently funded project are requested to present their results in poster form. The following applies to report posters within the framework of the annual coordination workshop: size DIN A0 portrait format, the SPP logo (SPP logo with text) and the funding number must be displayed next to the title. The poster should state the objectives of the work, briefly describe the method, present the results to date and give an outlook on the future work / studies. A critical assessment of problems may also be included.

Registrations are made via the coordination office (SPP-Antarktisforschung(at)uni-rostock.de). The registration form will be published with the "summer" newsletter and here on the website. Participants presenting a project or a poster may apply for travel expenses at the SPP Coordination Office. It is irrelevant whether the applicant participates personally or is represented by another person. The guidelines of the State Travel Expenses Act MV apply.

Hotel accommodations at the workshop location should be booked independently. When booking, please note the guidelines of the State Travel Expenses Act MV and the DFG. For more information, please refer to the annual "summer" newsletter. Links to the newsletters can be found here.
