How are flying bird species studied?

The Flying Bird Group of the IAA is working on two projects: one involves conducting a census of flying birds such as the giant petrel, a seagull species, and the snowy sheathbill. The other project, in collaboration with the Justus Liebig Universität Gießen (Germany), focuses on surveying nests and using mist nets to study the behavior of storm petrels. This project is funded by the SPP 1158 Antarctic Research.
